September 24, 2018
The new study published in Audio Monitor US 2018, found that Americans spend an average of 151 minutes each day listening to music. Music Biz and AudienceNet surveyed 3,000 consumers over 16 years old for the study. Broadcast radio made up 31 %, on demand streaming was 27%, download music was 10%, internet radio was 12 %, satellite radio was 7%, and online streaming of AM/FM radio was 5%. These numbers show that older audiences spent most of their music listening time on radio related services, especially broadcast radio. Young Americans are more likely to use on demand streaming services for music with YouTube being the most popular.
